WBRI AM 1500 began operations in 1961 as WNDY. In 1964, the station call letters and format changed to WBRI and began airing Christian Talk (teaching/preaching). Likewise, the slogan of the station changed to "Wonderful Bible Radio for Indiana". For almost 50 years, WBRI has maintained the same Christian format, making it one of the oldest Christian Talk stations in the nation.

In 2004, Wilkins Communications Network acquired WBRI with the intention to preserve the Christian Talk format and the loyal listenership of this heritage Christian station. Since 1964, WBRI has been honored to partner with many local churches, regional ministries and national Christian programmers.

Featured Christian programs on WBRI include: Grace to You, Focus on the Family, In Touch, Insight for Living , Discover the Word, Leading the Way and Thru the Bible.
